Notes & Reflections From Our Space Coast Chapter Leader
I Get It
Sometimes I cannot believe I am sitting here writing about my beautiful daughter Amanda. I have trouble breathing when I tell stories about her, like she is no longer here. Then it hits me! I realize she is no longer here, and that is why writing about her is difficult.
A Lesson to Share
Today I packed up the last box for our move in two days. In 52 years of marriage we have had at least fifteen moves. Most of them were with the USAF, but some were in the years after.
Each time I pack the last item, or unpack the last item, I say, “NEVER AGAIN.” But here I am, again…
The Year Ahead
Every year I dread February, and this year was no different. However, now the Mandy’s anniversary has passed I feel better. It’s time to face the year and I’m really excited about what is planned. I hope I can get al of you excited also!
Not Ready for February
As I sit down to write this letter I’m still waiting for Christmas to come. This year I’m a little less apprehensive than I have been the past seven years. That’s good. However, no matter how ready I think I am, I’m still not ready for February. That’s not good.
The Holiday Season
This year I am ready for the holidays. I cannot believe it, but I AM ready. Certainly not because of anything I have done, but just the same I’m ready. Every year I wonder how I will survive the season with all of the memories and traditions. Today I realize it is those very things that have made me ready.
Focusing on How They Lived
The other day I was in the Base Exchange at Patrick AFB and all of the school supplies were out in special displays. A couple of days later we were in Walmart and the aisles were full of people getting everything they needed for “Back to School.” It took me back to another time and place, which was good and bad.
