Welcome to the Space Coast Chapter of The Compassionate Friends
You Are Not Alone
When your child has died, suddenly it seems like all meaning has been drained from your life. When you wake in the morning, it’s difficult to get out of bed, much less live a “normal” life. All that was right with the world now seems wrong and you’re wondering when, or if, you’ll ever feel better.
We’ve been there ourselves and understand some of the pain you are feeling right now. We are truly glad that you have found us, but profoundly saddened by the reason. We know that you are trying to find your way in a bewildering experience for which no one can truly be prepared.
We are the Space Coast Chapter of The Compassionate Friends and we are here to help. We host support meetings and luncheons on the Space Coast of Florida in Brevard County.

National TCF Website
The Compassionate Friends is a non-profit, self-help organization offering friendship and understanding to bereaved parents and families. The purpose is to promote and aid parents and families in the positive resolution of the grief experience upon the death of their child and to foster the physical and emotional health of bereaved parents and surviving children. Some chapter meetings are in church facilities, but no religious creed or affiliation is involved. There are no dues and no one is required to talk at any meeting. Listening is okay!
The Space Coast Chapter of The Compassionate Friends supports grieving families who have lost a child at any age. We serve bereaved families through meetings and events in Brevard County, Florida. We serve grieving families in Melbourne, Merritt Island, Titusville, Cocoa Beach, Melbourne Beach, Palm Bay, Rockledge, Satellite Beach, Indialantic, Cape Canaveral, Palm Shores, Grant-Valkaria and beyond. You are welcome to attend meetings and events regardless of the county or city you live in.
The Compassionate Friends Mission
When a child dies, at any age, the family suffers intense pain and may feel hopeless and isolated. The Compassionate Friends provides highly personal comfort, hope, and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or a daughter, a brother or a sister, or a grandchild, and helps others better assist the grieving family.
Not Ready for February
As I sit down to write this letter I’m still waiting for Christmas to come. This year I’m a little less apprehensive than I have been the past seven years. That’s good. However, no matter how ready I think I am, I’m still not ready for February. That’s not good.
The Holiday Season
This year I am ready for the holidays. I cannot believe it, but I AM ready. Certainly not because of anything I have done, but just the same I’m ready. Every year I wonder how I will survive the season with all of the memories and traditions. Today I realize it is those very things that have made me ready.
Focusing on How They Lived
The other day I was in the Base Exchange at Patrick AFB and all of the school supplies were out in special displays. A couple of days later we were in Walmart and the aisles were full of people getting everything they needed for “Back to School.” It took me back to another time and place, which was good and bad.
Chapter Newsletter
Our newsletter is published every other month and includes articles, poems, memorials, and chapter information about upcoming events. Many find support and hope in the messages of love and understanding. If you would like to receive the newsletter, contact us at newsletter@tcfspacecoast.org.
